MLK Oratorical
Competition 

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Oratorical Contest is an annual scholarship competition hosted by the Upsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida, is a chance for high school males to demonstrate their oratorical skills in a meaningful way. Participants will engage in a friendly yet competitive environment while discussing the values that our Bro. Dr. King stood for. Beyond the competition, aspiring speakers will have the chance to earn scholarships that can help fund their educational journeys. Join us in celebrating the spirit of mentorship and leadership!

Program Purpose

Part of the fraternity’s broader educational initiatives including the “Go to High School, Go to College” program (established 1922).

• Promotes completion of secondary and collegiate education

• Develops oratorical skills among young men

Community Impact

• Celebrates Black History Month and civil rights legacy

• Provides role models and mentorship opportunities

• Supports college-bound students with financial assistance

• Continues Alpha Phi Alpha’s tradition of educational       

   advocacy
